Hunter makes Pancakes!

Today I had a nice surprise. Hunter, my oldest, wanted to cook us all breakfast. Well sure! Anytime I can get out of it is great for me. It is also a requirement for boy scouts to fix a meal some time during the year. Today was as good a day as any. Almost every Saturday morning we make pancakes. I thought that would be a great first meal. He mixed, poured and flipped all by himself. I am so proud! He will make some lady very happy one day. There is not much better than a man who can cook.

Happy Birthday Grammy!

Ok Yesterday we had another birthday. Tuesday was my grandmother's 79th birthday. Once again Rachel and I drove over and had lunch in Cheraw. I am so glad that i live close enough to visit my grandparents often. The visit was a little strange this time. We started talking about my grandparents will. Then they decided to show me what is being left to me when they pass away. Whoa! Wait! You're not going to be there forever! It was interesting hearing all the stories behind some of her possesions but weird thinking that I'm only going to get them when my grandparents are not here. It was very sad. I would much rather have them. But I'm not going to think about that any more. I am just going to enjoy the time I have with them now and try to spend all the time with them that I can. I love you Grammy and Buddy!

HAPPY 80th Buddy!

Yesterday Rachel and I went to visit my grandfather, Buddy, to wish him a HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY! Yes, 80th. WOW! It got me thinking about how much he has seen in his lifetime. I was talking about all the activities and toys my kids have and Buddy said they had nothing like that when he was growing up in the depression. He was born February 17, 1929. He has seen the invention of many things such as TVs and computers. He experienced the Great Depression, WW II, and saw a man walk on the moon. His first car was a 1929 "A" model Ford and loved to listen to "Amos and Andy." He served his country in the US Army. Gas was 19.9 cents. Stamps were 3 cents and a movie was 9 cents. He has seen the world but still lives in the same town he was born in. He has been married to the same woman for almost 56 years! He has 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

My grandfather is a wonderful man who I love very much. I am so thankful my children are able to spend time with and get to know their Great-Grandfather. I want to wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and MANY MORE! I love you Buddy!

I would like to take this time to tell the world what a wonderful hubby I have. We have been together for about 7 1/2 years. Through the years we have had our ups and downs but we always work things out. We have defiantly become comfortable with each other but in a good way. We know how to have fun with each other and not worry about the small stuff. We got each other cards for Valentine's Day. Did we get the sweet, romantic, sappy ones? Of course not. We were both rolling on the ground laughing when we opened each others cards. We knew exactly what the other one wanted.

I am so lucky to have Kevin in my life. He gave me two beautiful children and treats Hunter like his own. He is always there when I need a shoulder to cry on or someone to make me smile. I thank God everyday for bringing Kevin in my life. So Happy Valentine's Day Baby! I love you with all my heart!

As a stay at home mom I try to stay connected with other moms through blogs. I decided why should everyone else have all the fun. So here I am. Ready to give blogging a try. I titled my blog the Mom Taxi because that's what I am. I am 27 years old and the owner of my own mini-van. Now the mom in me is thrilled with my van. I can haul my kids and half the neighborhood around town along with all their stuff. I can go grocery shopping and have plenty of room for everything. I can go to baseball games and practice and can carry all the equipment needed for the whole team. Plus I can separate the kids so they can't touch each other! (MOM HE WON"T STOP TOUCHING ME. MOM TELL HER TO LEAVE ME ALONE!)

But what about the 27 year old in me. She would much rather be in a '69 Mustang convertible with the top down and the wind blowing through my hair. Oh yeah back to reality. I had kids young, got married young and wouldn't change my life for the world. but as I reconnect with my old high school friends who are just getting married and starting to have kids I sometimes wonder what if. What would I be doing now. Would I be climbing the career ladder with a high paying job or would I be traveling the world visiting exotic places. Then the kids run through the door and give me a huge hug and say I love you! That's when I realize I have the best job in the world. i would much rather get paid in hugs, kisses and finger paintings and every night before the kids go to bed we travel to exotic places in the books we read. So maybe things didn't turn out exactly as planned but MUCH MUCH BETTER than I ever could imagine.
